Description
Step of Life ‘In to the World’, Step of Life ‘The Ocean coming’, 2021, Acrylic on Canvas, 180 ×130 cm
Commissioned by 2021 ACC Posthuman Ensemble
Lugas Syllabus uses the parallels between human civilization and nature to emphasize that no matter how advanced the former is, it must rely on the latter for survival. In his series Moon, Syllabus uses blue and yellow moons to represent change, while a massive tree represents the source of life. His contributions to this exhibition are paintings and sculptures that symbolically represent the integration and connection of human knowledge and life using the deep sea, sky, and Milky Way as figures out of human reach. His work emphasizes that even posthumans need family, which is the orientation point that humanity walks toward.
The definition of “family” here is limited to blood relations and extended to friends, partners, and other beings in nature.
